Talk to the people on this roster
Messages is Everyone, one channel per store, one channel per position at that store, and direct messages between staff. It is not customer SMS. The bell still reports schedule changes when Messages is off.
Who can message whom?
Staff message each other inside the workspace: the Everyone channel, one channel per store, one channel per position at that store, and a direct message between two people. A position channel includes people who can work that position and stores no phone number. It is not customer SMS, and it does not text guests. The bell says that someone sent a message and does not include the body. When Messages is off, new messages stop and the bell still reports schedule changes, leave, and billing. Position channels, acknowledgements, translation, and a yes in the channel apply after the database rules and the message functions are deployed.
Four places to talk
Every channel is staff. Nothing here texts a guest.
Everyone
One channel for the workspace. People on the roster can read it and post in it.
One channel per store
The store channel is for that location. A manager can post an open shift as a chip and a short line. That does not list it on Cover and does not text anyone.
One channel per position
Each position at a store has its own channel. Membership follows who can work that position. The channel stores no phone number.
Direct messages
A direct message is between two people. The other person is the only one who can read it.
The bell stays either way
A message notification names the channel and never the body. Quiet hours delay that push. The post is already in the channel. Schedule changes, leave, and billing still reach the bell when Messages is off. A manager can ask for an acknowledgement and see who has not opened it. Cover can write the offer into the store channel when Messages is on, and a qualified yes there is the same win as an SMS yes. The SMS for that offer still sends. Shift, pay, and ticket chips follow the current record. You can show the open channel in Spanish or English. The stored message stays as it was typed. This product is not customer SMS. The new channel rules and those functions apply after they are deployed.
Not customer SMS Search filters the open channel on the device, over messages already loaded A shift chip follows the current shift. A pay-run chip needs Payroll. A ticket chip needs POS When Messages is off, new messages stop. Saved messages stay
Questions, answered
Is this customer SMS?
No. Messages is not customer SMS. It does not text guests. Everyone, the store channel, a position channel, and direct messages are for staff on the roster.
What happens to the bell if Messages is off?
The bell still reports schedule changes, leave, and billing. New staff messages stop. A message notification, when Messages is on, never includes the body.
Does posting a shift in the store channel list it on Cover?
No. A manager can post an open shift into the store channel as a chip and a short line. That does not list it on Cover and does not send anyone. A cover offer already in the channel can be taken there by a qualified yes. Cover remains a waitlist.
Who can read a position channel?
People who can work that position at that store, and managers. Someone without the position is not a member. The channel does not store a phone number. Those rules apply after they are deployed.
Does a yes in the channel take the shift?
A qualified yes from someone who was offered the shift is the same win as an SMS yes. One person gets the shift. An unqualified yes is refused with the reason. This runs after the cover function is deployed.
Can I read the channel in the other language?
On the open channel you can show Spanish or English over messages already loaded. The stored message stays in the language it was typed. If translation is not available, the channel says so and does not invent a line.
